The Denominación de Origen Protegida Calatayud Control Board is a legal self-governing public body, with economic independence and the complete capacity to act in the pursuit of its own aims.

The finality of the Control Board is to administer the D.O.P., and through its governing bodies, it counts on a control structure to oversee the compliance with the Specifications and Regulations.

Of the responsibilities of the different organs which make up the Governing body are, amongst others, the following purposes and functions:

Authorize and control the labels and back labels of the protected wines in those aspects that affect D.O.P. .
Issue certificate of origin and guarantee stamps.
Establish and manage the obligatory quotas and tariffs for the lending of services.
Draw up statistics on the production, elaboration and commercialization of the protected products, for internal use and for its diffusion in the public domain.
Carry out promotional activities.
Inform the consumers as to the characteristic quality of the wines of the D.O.P. .
Produce non-binding reports to authorize new planting and re planting and the normal replacement of vineyards on land situated in the production zone, to the effect that they are inscribed in the Registry of vineyards of the D.O. .
Propose modifications to the technical specifications and the regulations.
Investigate and diffuse knowledge and application of production systems and commercialization particular to the D.O.P. and give information to those operators who ask for it from the Administration.
Safeguard the compliance with the technical specifications.
Manage the registry of those operating within the D.O.P. .
Safeguard the prestige and promotion of the D.O.P. and report whenever necessary any misuse to the competent administrative and judicial body.
Establish, for each season, based on criteria of defence of the product and improvement in quality, and within the limits fixed by the technical regulations, the yields, maximum limits of production or the transformation or whatever other seasonal situation which could arise and could influence these processes.
Fix the minimum requirements for control to which each operator must be subject in each and every stage of the production process, elaboration and commercialization, as in the minimums of control for the initial concession and subsequent maintenance of the certificate.
Collaborate with the competent authorities, particularly in the maintenance of official public registers, as with the bodies in charge of control.
Safeguard the sustainable development of the region.
Elaborate, approve and manage their budgets.
Classify each vintage or harvest.
Other functions attributed in the statutes.
